Andrew Rogerson, LLB (Hons), TEP
Andrew’s main areas of practice are litigation, asset protection using offshore tax havens; offshore corporate structuring; and business migration to Canada.
Andrew was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1981 by Middle Temple, from whom he was a scholarship recipient. Subsequently, he served as a pupil in the Insolvency Chambers of Michael Crystal Q.C. in Gray’s Inn. His early practice developed from insolvency and bankruptcy litigation to encompass, at the other end of the spectrum, asset protection with an international focus.
Since qualification, Andrew has practiced in South Africa, Australia, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Jersey (Channel Islands), Ontario, Alberta and as a barrister in London, England.
Having spent 11 years in offshore tax havens establishing asset protection structures and litigating trust issues, Andrew is one of a small number of Canadian lawyers with who can advise authoritatively on this area. He is quoted as a source of information in the news media, including the CBC.
Andrew has conducted hundreds of trials, applications and appeals in Canada and overseas. Although his court appearances these days are largely focused on trust and estate litigation, bankruptcy and family property and commercial disputes, he undertakes several pro bono criminal trials each year. As an experienced litigator, he has had a high ratio of success in advising clients whether or not to pursue a particular case.
He is a Fellow of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the author of many published articles on offshore trust and tax issues as well as domestic bankruptcy and asset protection.
